If you were planning a vacation to Myrtle Beach, what would you look for and what resources would you use?

Rocky

We usually stay in Palmetto Dunes when we go to Hilton Head. I haven’t been to Myrtle Beach in years and there is so much to pick from. Any suggestions?

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is the centerpiece of the popular eastern U.S. tourist destination known as the Grand Strand. Known primarily for possessing the largest concentration of golf courses in the world, a vacation in Myrtle Beach is bound to be filled with a few rounds of top-notch golf that simply cannot be beat. Throw in a little deep sea fishing, a few days at the beach, and a journey to some of the well-known attractions and you have a well-rounded Myrtle Beach adventure.

Hitting the links on one of Myrtle Beach’s well manicured courses is an absolute must for any traveler, no matter what your handicap may be. There are numerous courses interspersed throughout the Grand Strand, about 115 public courses at last count, that are waiting to test your nerves and ability. To find the right fairways during your trip to Myrtle Beach, you certainly do not need to travel far since you can find some top rated courses here and in North Myrtle Beach.

To play on one of the best courses in the area, make your way to North Myrtle Beach to test your game on the Fazio course at the Barefoot Resort. Overflowing with pine trees, live oaks, tall grasses, and plenty of sand traps, golfers of every ability will face difficult shots if their game is not quite up to par. The beauty of the course, however, makes it a worthwhile adventure as the nearby lakes add a splash of color and the naturally occurring elevation changes add a slice of drama to many of the holes.

If you prefer to stay close to your home base, two Myrtle Beach courses to consider are Witch and Legends-Moorland. Witch is located in the most beautiful of settings, sitting amongst forests and wetlands so visitors must make their way over 4,000 feet of bridging to traverse the course. It features tight fairways that call for precise shots, moderately difficult greens, and two island holes that will test the mettle of even the most consistent golfer. Legends-Moorland is one of the most challenging courses on the east coast, so duffers beware. Featuring a sculpted terrain, numerous water areas, piles of natural growth, and deep, difficult bunkers, Legends-Moorland will require a dash of luck and some great up and downs if you don’t want the course to get the better of you.

With 60 miles of beach in the Myrtle Beach area, the call of the sand may be too much for any visitor to resist. While lounging in the sand and soaking up the sun are always popular activities, Myrtle Beach is the perfect place to learn how to surf, explore inlets along the shore on a kayak, or see the wonders of the Atlantic from below on a scuba diving excursion. One of the most popular activities out on the water, however, is to charter a boat and get out there for a fishing adventure.

For those who want an opportunity at the catch of a lifetime, a sportfishing boat charter will take you out into the depths of the Atlantic where you can troll for big ones such as wahoo, sailfish, king mackerel, and marlin. To catch some great scenery while trying for a big one, reserve your place on a large party boat or headboat where you can enjoy a smooth ride as you reel in grouper, snapper, and amberjack. If the possibility of seasickness deters you from hopping aboard a boat, there are eight piers in the Myrtle Beach area where you can drop in a line without ever leaving the safety of land.

When the temperature soars and you are ready to experience water away from the sand, head over to the oceanfront Family Kingdom Water Park for an exciting afternoon that is sure to delight the kids. For those looking for an indoor adventure, make your way to Ripley’s Aquarium to catch sight of stunning and interesting underwater creatures that will surely take your breathe away. And when it is time for some nighttime entertainment, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner & Show and the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament can turn dinnertime into another great attraction.

Myrtle Beach is filled to the brim with entertainment options that will give you both a relaxing and thrilling stay. Whether you have come for the amazing golf or to spend some time on the pristine beaches, you can find accommodations that surround you with the best of what this coastal city has to offer. Myrtle Beach vacation rentals are located on the sand, amidst beautiful golf courses, and just about anywhere else you can imagine. Begin your search for the perfect vacation home rental today and experience the Myrtle Beach you have heard so many great things about.

My husband and I want to take a trip to Myrtle Beach. Someone told me the North or South is better, but I can’t remember which. Anyone know, and what’s better about one over the other?

Myrtle Beach makes people forget about their daily routine. It gives something to everyone that they relish. Are you a retiree envisioning a life of warm breezes, walks along the beach, lower cost homes and plenty of shopping and restaurants. Being around the retirement age, I was curious to find out what it would be like to retire at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and what retirement communities are located there.

On my drive to South Carolina, I found tall pines characterizing the scenery. If you drive there, as you cross into the state, be sure to stop at their friendly Welcome Center. Maybe I had a lost look as they eagerly showed me how to make my first stop at North Myrtle Beach and loaded me up with maps and brochures. North Myrtle Beach turned out to be a good plan as it is at a slower pace on the 60 mile stretch called The Grand Strand (same thing as Myrtle Beach) and makes a good starting point.

After the Welcome Center, I continued down 95 and then to route 40. I was curious about the large amount of billboards all along this road describing one new home community after another. Even for someone whose purpose was to discover over 55 retirement communities, the amount of new home activity was — well, surprising. I then took route 210, a road off the beaten track, headed to Wilmington for my first stop before Myrtle Beach, and, again, more new communities all along this pine-studded road. I made a wrong turn and was now on highway 17 headed to Myrtle Beach. I decided to continue in that direction along highway 17. The amount of activity with the billboard advertisements of new home communities intensified.

I have not seen the Atlantic ocean yet. Finally at North Myrtle Beach, I leave highway 17 for Ocean Boulevard where I can see the ocean and hear real surf (not my sound machine) from the road. The beach was filled with sunbathers due to perfect beach weather–plenty of sun, warm breezes, warm water, and white powdery sand. A sprinkling of palm trees created the perfect tropical setting.

I have arrived at the North end of The Grand Strand as recommended and decide to get a place to stay right away. I was lucky and found something steps to the sand. After settling in, the beach was so inviting I decided to join the sunbathers for the rest of the day. I managed to find a quiet spot as the beach was not too crowded. The water temperature was as warm as bath water when I waded in. That evening I enjoyed a dinner of steamed spiced shrimp that tasted as fresh and local as the waiter assured me it was. I am told that the most residential area is on the southern side of The Grand Strand in the Murrells Inlet area, about 60 miles away.

After a long stroll along the beach early the next morning, I reluctantly check out, since duty calls, to drive to Murrells Inlet for my search. My destination is a master planned community called Prince Creek, since I know there is an over 55 retirement community there. As I drive along the 60 mile Grand Strand, I am amazed at how much shopping, restaurants, and miniature golf there is, not to mention the luxury hotels and golf courses in the central part.

Arriving at Murrells Inlet, I sense I am in one of the nicest residential areas of Myrtle Beach. This is around Tournament Boulevard and Highway 17. Prince Creek is a new premier development composed of multiple communities in every price range. I am interested in the over 55 community there called Seasons at Prince Creek by Levitt and Sons. On this hot, slightly humid June day, I reviewed the 12 models on display at Seasons and was not disappointed. At completion, the community will have 460 beautiful new homes, a clubhouse, 2 pools, lawn maintenance and more.

Finally, I have seen a great over 55 community, reviewed Myrtle Beach and enjoyed the beach as well. There are a few other nice active adult communities here, one of them being Centre Pointe by Lennar. There are manufactured homes communities for over 55 like Jensen’s Ocean Pines, which I reviewed, Lakeside Crossing, assisted living communities and mobile home parks. Many of the numerous new home communities mentioned are also appealing to retirees.

So whether you take a nostalgic trip to the past when Myrtle Beach was a small town or visit today,
Myrtle Beach is clearly on the move toward being a large resort area including many new communities–a dramatic change from the past. Retiring here for some may feel a little fast-paced with the many crowded activities along highway 17, but for others the attractions that started it all are still here–the warm climate, the Intracoastal Waterway, and Atlantic ocean beaches.

My friends and I are planning a senior trip the first 11 days of June. Where is a teenager going to have the most fun? Which is nicer? My friends prefer Myrtle because they think everyone goes there and we want to meet people. They don’t think anyone goes to Daytona. I prefer Daytona because I think it offers more things to do when not at the beach, and the beach is nicer. Can someone give me their opinion?

Fishing in Myrtle Beach is excellent year-round and that is why the local fishermen are at work throughout the year. However, the crowds do start to arrive when the water gets warmer in April. The Grand Strand offers numerous locations, such as Murrells Inlet and all along the Waccamaw river. Anglers can take advantage of all of the unique features each location has to offer.

Those in the know can tell you that the most prized and largest fish are to be found off of the South Carolina coast. If you are looking for a good deal, try visiting Myrtle Beach in the fall or winter when the rates drop. You will find great deals in room rates and charter fishing. Read on for some information about what the area has to offer.

The Atlantic Ocean offers a myriad of catches, but is most known for grouper, sailfish, snapper, black sea bass, yellow-fin tuna, marlin, king mackerel, and dolphin. The abundant options are truly a fisherman’s delight. If you chose to charter your fishing expedition and wish to stay near the shore, you will be able to catch trigger fish, snapper, red fish, speckled trout, and other varieties of small fish. For surf fishing in Myrtle Beach, try stopping in one of the many bait shops and inquire about what is hitting and what would be best used as bait. But be prepared. Ocean fishing in South Carolina requires a permit. The fee for a saltwater fishing license for non-residents is $35 and is good for one year. Residents pay $10 for a one year license.

An excellent bargain can be had in pier fishing. The Cherry Grove Pier in North Myrtle Beach charges fishermen $10 a day. It extends over 1,000 feet into the Atlantic Ocean. There are numerous piers along the Grand Strand that offer similar bargains and exceptional fishing.

If you are interested in freshwater fishing, take a trip along the Waccamaw river. It offers fantastic fishing and even better scenery. On the Intracoastal Waterway and in the Little River jetties, and even in the creeks you will find plenty of trout, spot tail bass, and flounder. If you are a fisherman, then Myrtle Beach is for you. Nature has a lot to offer in this part of the country. Come enjoy!

Motorcycle rides can be a source of immense exhilaration and adrenaline rush to the rider. There is a unique feel to the experience of rushing across the road in a bike without a care in the world, feeling the wind hit the face and racing ahead of normal life without caring too much for what is left behind. You will find a lot of people who will echo this thought about motorcycle rides.

The popularity of motorcycle rides is not slowing down anytime soon. More people around the world are starting to enjoy the thrill of racing on bikes. This is paving way for more advanced build of bikes.

Motorcycle riders have the impression of being big, beefy men and **** women, in tight leather pants and leather jackets, stylish helmets and shiny shoes. All these wild details make motorcycle racing so popular among people everywhere.

Motorcycle racing gives riders across the world a chance to share their knowledge, update themselves on the latest trends doing the rounds in the circuit, and at the end of day, racing with each other to enjoy their common passion. It is essential to belong to the circuit of riders, or know someone who is part of it to know about the various events that are hosted in and around the area one lives in.

One of the most well known motorcycle racing events is the Myrtle Beach Spring Rally which is held every year in May. It is the one stop destination for riding enthusiasts and even those who simply enjoy watching the riders take on the action. Many people buy condos and other property to return to live here even after the Myrtle Beach Bike Week, as a retirement spot.

There are thousands of people who gather in and around the sixty mile long coastline on the eastside bordered by the North Myrtle Beach and Murrells Inlet. There is a conglomeration of vendors who sell everything from t-shirts, bike accessories, to even motorcycles. Those who don’t own bikes can hire one during the Myrtle Beach Bike Week. Other events included in the plan of action are live musical performances, the famous poker run, stunt shows and of course, simple motorcycle racing. The bike week consists of most Myrtle Beach Spring Rally and Fall Bike Rally. The largest vending location on the beach is that of Sonny Production which will be built into a mall at Inlet Square and provide parking space stretching over sixty acres.

The most popular event of the entire week is of course the bike rally. The racing pit along the beach is called the Grand Strand. This area provides some of the most beautiful locations to ride a bike on the Atlantic coastline.

Although there has been a slight fall in the number of vendors in the recent years, the most renowned ones still exist without any compromise. The Murrell’s Inlet and Broadway on the Grand Strand are the main areas where all the action takes place every year.
